TXT Message your groups for free!

Communication

To all my friends and Jott followers, the party has ended.   Jott came out of beta testing and decided to cancel all the useful features for their basic subscribers.  I am no longer using them for mass txt messaging.  I found this great site called 3jam.  SMS messages sent within the USA are free.  They have a price calculator for sending overseas.  Basically 3jam broadcasts a message, the recipients can reply to that message and you see the conversation realtime on your browser.  You can interact with your groups via SMS without ever touching your cell phone!  It’s truly a beautiful product that blows Jott out of the water as far as SMS.

If you are an entrenched Jott follower, plan on paying $3.95/month for the basic features we enjoyed for free.  Don’t be fooled if your account allows you to do what you’ve always done with Jott.  They signed everyone up with a Pro trial that expires.   I’m very disappointed with Jott.   I feel they could have made the transition smoother and more practical for the majority of their audience.  Their basic plan is not really a plan at all.  They have ousted the grassroots partners that have made them a great company.  For your SMS group messaging needs, check out 3jam!  It’s free, and they aren’t on the blacklist! :)  For other Jott replacements, check out Lifehacker’s post here.  Also, Dial2Do.com is a great place for updating Twitter, sending email, and writing notes by leaving a voice message.  it’s free too!  I’ll do a review on it in the coming days.

I just tested out Dial2Do and it seems pretty cool!

Not sure how the voice to text would work handling certain things. I’m interested in your review!

FYI- be sure to modify wp_ calls in easysms.php to whatever you renamed your data base prefix to be (if you renamed it).

If someone wants to experiment try joining send-msg.com and using dial2do.com option wordpress and use send-msg.com and your user info
